Nothing is worse than being stuck in an airport when you have important things to get done. There probably are worse things that could happen to you, but when you are sitting in that airport, waiting to leave, it doesn’t seem like there could be. You would rather be anywhere else than sitting in that terminal. Luckily, for most everybody, there are some ways to escape the boredom and being trapped in that interminable terminal.

You might already have a gadget with you and not even realize it. A cell phone can sometimes effectively keep you busy for a good while. Many cell phones have a lot of things on them that has nothing to do with talking. Talking is really not a bad idea while waiting. You could be catching up with people while sitting anywhere.

You can likely even surf the net with your cell phone, just like your computer. Some can actually get music to listen to or have a movie downloaded to watch. It is generally a tiny little screen to watch anything on but if you have some headphones you can really transport yourself away by watching a story unfold on your phone.

About the only thing that would do a better job transporting you to a different world is a book. You could always carry the book along with you, toting it in your carry-on or in your back pocket. But there are better ways to read a book now, ways that are a little more convenient. You could always carry around a tablet that is made for downloading books with you. But you can also run the same programs on your cell phone or on your laptop. You are going to be carrying those things around with you anyway, so they don’t add anything to the amount that you have to carry with you.

That same option, of downloading books is also possible with some cell phones and other devices like an IPod or MP3 player. They are small so that means you will have less things in your pocket but also a smaller space to read from. A laptop is likely the best techie type of gadget to have with you when you are stuck waiting, you can read a book, watch a movie, or play games on your computer.
